Sharon Sullivan is an experienced HR executive with deep expertise in total rewards and a range of experience in broader HR and sales and marketing. Sharon was formerly vice president of human resources – Total Rewards and HR services for Eli Lilly and Company. For the last ten years she was responsible for all compensation and benefit programs globally for a workforce of 40,000, including executive and board compensation. During that time Sharon led a transformation to ensure that these programs would attract and retain the talent needed to drive the future strategy of the firm while ensuring a solid financial base for the corporation’s reward programs. Additional responsibilities included corporate employee health services and wellness, mergers and acquisitions and global security and asset protection. Sharon served on numerous Lilly boards including the $5 billion pension board, the executive HR council and Lilly’s compliance and ethics board.
Sharon joined Lilly in 1981 as a sales representative for Elizabeth Arden, a former Lilly subsidiary. She held various sales and marketing positions at Elizabeth Arden before moving into corporate roles at Lilly. At Lilly she had a range of HR experiences including Senior Director of Human Resources in the United Kingdom. She also served as Chief Learning Officer where she was responsible for succession planning, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, workforce analytics, employee engagement and performance management, as well as, the corporate portal and knowledge management.
Sharon was a member of the Conference Board Council on Executive Compensation and served on the group’s executive committee. She was also a very active member of the Pharmaceutical Human Resources Association for many years. Sharon is a Tobias Center Leadership Fellow, and most recently was a speaker at the USC Corporate Governance Summit.
Sharon received bachelor degrees in economics and sociology from the University of Notre Dame and a master of business administration degree from Indiana University. Sharon currently serves on The Trust of the Park Tudor School where she was formerly the President of the Board.
